I didn't even hunt coyotes until a farmer asked me to. I shoot groundhogs on his land, and as soon as he told me about losing a sheep to one, I felt I owed him...so I did. I wasn't successful, but the coyote(s) never came back either. Maybe seeing my fat a** in the tree line with a .223 put them off.
Had this conversation recently online too ABOUT groundhogs, and whether or not you should wait until the young are weaned before shooting adults. From a hunting perspective, more targets=better. But, I personally find it a bit disingenuous to be granted permission to rid their property of these things and then pass on shot opportunities for the sake of my own "sport".

Taking game management attitudes towards species that don't need to be managed is silly.

If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

You will get him sooner or later. The farmer will be really happy to know you arent just out for your own enjoyment and you are doing your part to look after his interests. Good on ya! Looking forward to the pics

Im as "pro coyote" as anyone on this board, but when a yote is stealing livestock its time to for it to go. No question. Hunt without remorse.

If it was running away with a 40lb lamb, I'm thinking it has to be a large animal, so most likely a male.

I have never had luck with distress this time of year. Just too much food out there for them. Maybe some pup squeals and barks. I know where a den is right now, Farmer said he can hear them down the hole.
