10' Misty River aluminum?

Hey guys~quick question for you. I posted a "wanted" ad for one of these boats, but it occurred to me that not everybody pokes through the buy & sell on here. Wondering if any of you have one you're not using anymore, know somebody who has one, whatever. Not in a panic to buy, but ready to. Also have gear to work in as a trade if so desired.

My buddy in the OPP tells me regularly that the most boating fatalities he has been involved with were 12ft aluminum boats. I wouldn't buy anything under 14ft.

That's not hard to believe at all.

If you ever plan on taking it anywhere bigger than a frog pond, be safe and go bigger.

10-12' are definately great for small back lakes, im a tall guy and am not comfortable in a canoe so light boats suit me better, growing up i had a 12 ft and a 5 hp i went all over with, but more then once i got out on water i shouldnt have had that boat in and had waves coming over the front of the boat, a slow wet scary trip was a stern reminder of dont go there stupid lol

Thanks for the replies guys. Thinking a fair weather row boat for me on my own, close to shore, and that I might be able to put in my truck without a trailer. I've had a 12' boat with a 4hp outboard, 16' side console with a 40hp outboard, and a 20' center console with a 75hp outboard~I've been around the block. The appeal is not having to trailer the thing if at all possible, so toying with a kayak too. (as much as I hate that idea) Wanting to keep it simple, light, low/no-tech..oar powered.

Probably because they're the most common, but point taken. I've been in plenty of bad situations with boats, and the experiences effectively eradicated the "risk taker" in me for good.

Grouse whisper, reading through this and only being able to guess at your intended uses, desire to car top/bed etc I've wanted to ask if you've given thought to a kayak. There are all kinds of options.

based on some questions I got about my yak, I posted an event in that forum I'm aware of July 5 at Glen Whelans. Would be a chance for you to see different options.

Don't know anything about that, but have been talking to someone we both probably know...who has a Nucanoe Frontier. It's an interesting option, and looks very stable. I'm 6'1", and north of 275lbs....so canoes and sit-on-top kayaks really don't inspire confidence. Want to be able to bug panfish in shallow water, maybe prowl around looking for big gar with the fly rod.
