    Default New to fly fishing

Hi everyone, I just started fly fishing and was wondering what are some good flies for this time of year, im equipped with a 3wt rod and will be using it for panfish and small trout fishing around the gta east ditches and small waters, I normally float fish and the flies that I use for that kind of setup is probably way too big for the 3wt. so if anyone can point me in the right direction with fly types and sizes that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    J

Welcome James! I have had a lot of success with small bead-head nymph type flies. Size 10-12. Black with white wings has been a real killer on sunfish, rock bass and perch. A black bead-head Wooly Bugger is also on the top of my list. Try and find the smallest size.

If ya want lots of smaller trout a grey nymph with a black head is really good. Any dry will get lots of smaller trout maybe the odd nicer brownie
