My question is why is feeding raw deemed so dangerous? Any of us who eat meat have to handle it and it appears that we are NOT dropping like flies. Heck, I even eat beef raw and love sushi. The only reason I don't feed my dogs raw is the issue of storage space.

How can you guarantee how it was handled before you bought it? How can you guarantee what it's actual nutritional makeup is? Does the supplier provide a detailed listing of vitamins, minerals, fats, calories /lb, protein percentages or any other nutritional info?

You could be killed any time you go for a drive. That doesn't mean it's a good idea to drive with a bottle of whisky in you.

Now, I'm not saying that feeding raw is as risky as driving plastered. What I'm saying is that the risk of salmonella is not, in fact, uniform. You can increase or decrease that risk as you choose. As BVMS said, it depends on your risk tolerance.

What I'm saying is that the risk of salmonella is not, in fact, uniform. You can increase or decrease that risk as you choose. As BVMS said, it depends on your risk tolerance.

You have no control over the risk whether you buy raw or kibble, although some pet food manufacturers have worse track records than others. I guess if you buy from a company that has a good record you're controlling the risk, to a point. If you buy raw from a reputable farm I suppose you're controlling the risk as well.

NO...look it up yourself......they don't even put the list of nutrients/ingredients on chicken in the grocery store..because it's 100% chicken.. LOL...

LOL... I think what Terry is getting at is for those that feed 100% raw, are they giving their pooches properly balanced meals. Chicken alone won't meet everything needed for a healthy diet.
