APP - Booth Lake
Camping on Booth for a couple of nights this weekend. Any tips for fishing there or in nearby waters... lures, tactics etc? Might also try the first rapids up the Opeongo River from Tattler Lake. Accessing Booth via Farm and Kitty, so could try those lakes on the way too.
Would love to catch a trout, but I assume smallies and pike are more likely this time of year.

I was on Booth late last August, but I'd imagine the fishing would be similar now. We focused on pike mostly. The best fishing we found was on Tattler. All my pike came on a #4 Mepps Aglia Long, reeled in just above the weeds. The weedbed in front of McCarthy's Creek held some pike too.
We tried for trout too, but had no luck. The deepest parts of Booth are the northern section and one spot just north of the southern island.
Great pike fishing though - the lady at the office said the record for the lake is 18 lb.

a staffer at the gate told me years ago that there are some monster pike in Farm Lake and that they were seen picking off ducklings on more than one occasion. not an uncommon occurrence, i know, but still interesting...
I've casually fished Farm and Booth as a kid, but never had any luck. it's a beautiful area though, with lots of nice sandy beach & pine campsites.
