never had much luck in the easily accessible lakes in the park. never put much effort into it though.
never made it to the lake at the back of the park that people speak of. I think that would be your best bet though. least amount of pressure/people.

use to camp there a few years back, lots of small hammer handles and some descent bass. Gut lake is always good for hammer handles,as is gurd. Top waters at dusk work good trolled from a canoe.

I have seen that 600 pound black bear at the dump near grundy lake! he came right up to the window of our truck and sniffed it while our dogs were going crazy, the he went and laid on his back in the ditch we have pictures somewhere but i was about 14 years old at the time.

@sylvain, I don't trust Fish On-Line. There are lakes where I know certain species are present and it says they aren't and the reverse is true, it says rainbows in a lake I have fished for almost 40 years, my uncles for even longer. Not one has ever caught a rainbow, much less heard of one being caught. One uncle owns a camp on e lake, so he has a good handle on what people are and are not catching there.

Just got back this afternoon. Mosquitoes are bad, bad, bad. My daughter and I fished Grundy Lake for about 2 hours on Saturday. The wind was blowing hard for a canoe. We had a hard time keeping it straight and moving forward. I spoke to many people on canoes and kayaks that we passed and no was admitting to catching anything. We found a weed bed and were trolling over it when I got a hit. After reeling in a 19" pike, I told my daughter I was going to release it. She convinced me to keep it. After getting ready to troll again and the wind pushing us off the weed bed, we trolled over the same spot. Another hit. This one pulling drag. I thought it was another pike, but turned out to be a walleye. 17.5 inches. Nice eater.

On Sunday, we hit Gurd lake. My daughter caught the first fish, a 20" pike. We parked out of the wind in a shallow bay and started casting. I managed to get a few hits on top waters and ended up catching three more pike, 15, 14 and 22" I threw the smaller ones back, but we kept the two largest fish. I don't remember catching pike like that on top water lures, but it was definitely a blast!
