Hooked a Monster
Hasn't happened in a couple years, but I managed to hook a monster up north this weekend- myself.
I used the old fishing line trick, with a tug and pressure on the tine it came out without a snag
I wish I had pics, but I just wanted to suggest that method in a post. It works. For everyone that fishes with any regularity, these things happen, and not generally in a spot where one can just zip over to the hospital. Downward pressure on the tine and a FIRM tug on the line wrapped around the hook straight backwards. Awesome.

In the slanting sun of late afternoon the shadows of great branches reached from across the river, and the trees took the river in their arms

Hahaha! You are a monster. Sucks dude but I bet most have been 'caught' or 'stuck' in that situation before, including myself.
And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the riverside, throwin’ back what we could fry. Drownin’ worms and killin’ time, nothin’ too ambitious.

Had to do that to the wife. I was repainting a jigging rap and had it hanging to dry on a wire shelf at home where we keep a bowl of fruit. She reached in to grab some fruit but the rap grabbed her first. It was the nose hook that tagged her. We cut off the tail hook first then used 20lb fluorocarbon and out it came.

LOL yes I am a fishing addict!! She toughed it out pretty good. I was 2hrs away when it happened and she wouldn't go to the emergency room to get it out.She told me not to worry about it and she would wait till I got home so i could deal with it.She's a keeper!!

Fishing this long weekend: 2nd time this year. Same trick no problem. In the boat a certain board member says "Here, I'll get out with a pair of pliers." In the dark. After a whiskey or three. After putting it there to begin with. Or (and call me crazy) I go back to the lit cottage and get the gf to do it. Again. I swear she was smiling
