Echo Lake
My niece and her husband have rented a cottage up there the first week of August and has invited me and the wife up for a few days. I'll be taking my great nieces ( 4 and 6 ) out in the boat for a little bit of fishing. The ministry's 'Fish-On-Line' tool says the lake has bass, perch, and an assortment of other pan fishes, which I'm sure should be easy enough to find, but what I need to know is this. Is it a rocky lake? A weedy lake? Should I be wary of hidden shoals? Stuff like that. I've never fished it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm not asking for honey holes.

The closest town is Torrance. The next closest town is Bala. Google Earth shows Echo connecting to Gullwing through a narrows. The two lakes sort of form a horseshoe around Clear Lake.

I fished this lake once (put my canoe in off southwood road) and had surprisingly good luck for largemouth. I landed several, one 4lbs in an hour. Dont remember it being particularly rocky, although I didnt get to a large chunk of the lake as my time was limited.
Ive been told that it has good pike fishing, although I did not get any. I was fishing quick covering water with crankbaits and didnt give it a real good kick. Its on my list to explore some more in the future.
