Sucks....
Just a rant. Got a 50.00 from the for Xmas. Can't find anything to spend it on. They either don't have what I want (including Cabela's brand stuff), or its over priced, or they tack on "additional freight charges.
Examples.
- They have the Cabela's base layer shirt I want, but not in tall fit. They have tall fit in some things, but not all as Cabela's US has.
- Even the smallest box of decoys has an "addition freight charge". About 18.00 on top of the regular 13.00..... Distribution Plein Air charges 9.00 to ship the same product.
- over priced... For instance, for a Super Lucky Duck (no remote), they want 159.99. Even Canadian Tire beats them. Same decoy there is 139.99. Cabela's USA beat them both. I got the Super Lucky Duck pro combo (fully flocked, remote, and bag) for 165.00US after tax/duty and shipping.
- Sales are few and if it's on sale It's usually stuff nobody wants.
Anyways, I stopped shopping there long ago. But I had the gift card and had to subject myself to their ridiculousness.
At one time, it wasn't too bad because if you were ordering from Ontario, they'd only charge you GST. But since the HST has swept the country, it's not worth it.
Rant end.

I'm sure you could sell someone the G/C and use the money elsewhere, they also price match so maybe could make use of it that way on an overpriced item and get it reduced.

Lucky duck scout were on sale for $54.95 and they are fully flocked.
All items that are stocked in the store to this point were the items that were purchased the most online in Ontario. So they tried stocking the store with the product people wanted the most

Don't think he is talking about the new store in Barrie but Cabela's Canada online. I'm assuming you can't call up the Barrie store and get them to ship out an order, you would have to go through Winnipeg (Cabela's Canada) to do so.
Hey CoCo, I'm not sure if they do it up here but you may be able to place an order from Cabela's Canada and have it shipped for free to the Barrie store. I'm not positive but that is the case in the USA.
I love fishing but REALLY it is just a way to pass time until hunting season!!!!

Yes you can ship to any Cabelas Canada store from the .ca for free
I tried the "get one store to ship to another" trick 2 years ago with no luck on a bow. None in stock online, none in stock in Winnipeg, but the Edmonton store had a ton, tried to get the Edmonton store to ship one even pay for it with a credit card over the phone, couldn't do it.
Had to get someone in Edmonton we know go in and buy it and ship it to me.

It'd cost me a tank of gas to go to Barrie. Lol. But it would be an advantage for those near by.
But I have found if you watch the sales on Cabela's USA, you can get things cheaper even after all of the exchange, duty and taxes are totalled.

I had the same issue. Got gift cards for Xmas and with the extra charges on ordering stuff online the price almost doubled on what I wanted. I waited for the Barrie store to open and made the drive to get what I wanted.

I got a $50 G/C for my bday not too long ago. Can't use it in the USA and to use it online with shipping, I lose buying power. 2 hour drive from where I live in Niagara. Can't find anything I want/need that's worth it yet. I'm sure I'll eventually find something. Perhaps 9th edition Hornady reloading manual.
End of additional rant lol
