JWeese:
Just thinking about your dog - too hot to do much else.
Did the vet look at a stool sample for worms - hook, round? ( You'd be able to see tape worms in the feces.) Worms will take a dog's weight down fast.

Puppy food might be your friend . Or something for highly active dogs . My fat cat even loses weight in the summer .

Puppy food has higher energy in it. That's why you feed it to whelping females as well to keep milk and weight gain going.

The only test done were blood work and a physical examination, however she was treated for worms as a precaution.

I'll be making some satin balls this evening, and will try switching to a puppy food for a while too.
How often do you feed satin balls? I certainly can't afford to use them as a meal replacement - but a meal enhancement, sure.

Has too much time on their hands
I would feed my under weight dog three small meals a day and iclude a Satin Ball with every meal. If the stools are loose I would cut back a Satin Ball until your dog's digestive system adjust to the fat content.

One week on Satin Balls and Misty has gained nicely and is starting to fill in. I doubt she's gained as much as my scales are saying (7 lbs), as scales are notorious for being wrong depending on many factors - but she has gained and is starting to fill out.
Her energy level is also considerable higher, she seems happier, and already - her coat is amazingly soft and shiny!
We are giving her three small, golf-ball sized, satin balls before every meal and switched to feeding her three times daily instead of one big meal in the morning that is still mostly there at the end of the day. She is also finishing each meal.
