Does anybody know of any camps/resorts in Central Ontario where they DON"T allow open burning/firepits/campfires?
My wife & I are both allergic to smoke, but would love to go somewhere for a few days & bring our boat to fish.

Pretty tall order chum. You might be better off trying a trip when the municipalities have banned outdoor burning.

Only resorts I can think of, off the top that offer no burning would be owned by the Sandals company, and located on sandy beaches in the tropics

Allergies like that,for people who love the outdoors,are the absolute pits. The pollen from many plants make summer for this dedicated varmint/predator hunter,a real hassle. My best friends are Benydril and Reactin,so,I can really empathize. It's like having a perpetual cold. Is there any preventive OTC drugs you can use to lessen or even eliminate the symptoms? Maybe,have a chat with your MD. He may be able to help you with a "puffer" or "inhaler". I hate to say this,but,finding anywhere without smoke of some sort will be like trying to push a chain. Try Gowbushkon Lodge in Gowganda, even though they have a fire pit it is far enough away from the cabins to be bothered by the smoke.

No, unfortunately smoke is an "environmental allergy", and there is nothing you can take for this.
My wife is worse with smoke than I am - she gets migraines from smoke, and she has had 2 minor heart attacks brought on by vomiting from migraines, so smoke is a major problem for her.
Just frustrating when you live in Niagara, and the only place to take our boat is Lake Erie & there is so much wind all the time it seems lately. Would really be nice to have a small lake somewhere to go to, but we're too old for the hassle of camping out anymore!

I feel for you, but the camp fire is all part of camping. As others have suggested a resort such as Deerhurst which is mole of a hotel than a camp will probably be the best option.

Might I also suggest that keeping any eye on things like fire bans in specific areas. If there is a ban in place, these locations shouldn't be allowing open burning. I know that its not a great solution, but thought I would throw it out to you.
