New Small mouth personal best

Well not mine. There is a little story behind this one. My 8 year old son often sits on my lap in front of the computer every few nights as we read the great fishing stories and flip through the amazing fish pictures posted here. So tonight when he caught his biggest fish to date the first words out his mouth were,

Dad!!!! Can we take a picture and put it on that fishing website?

Yes son we can.

So here it is smile and all. No weight, length, or girth. Just not that important for an 8 year old, but his biggest thus far. A picture was just what he wanted.

No fancy equipment. Just a rod, hook, and a single split shot. His smile was just as big when, as he was releasing him I told him, there's lots more of those in the lake for tomorrow.

Oh and his 5 year old brother and 4 year old twin sisters were pissed that they didn't catch the big one. The girls were actually in tears because all the caught were "stupid sunfish". I think I'm going to have my work cut out for me this week in the search for big fish on the lake.

I've been fishing for over 40yrs and haven't caught one that big.... A huge congrats to your son.... Best of luck to the others and a big thumbs up to you!!!!!

nice fish and looks like the rest of the family have their work cut out for them to top that. nothing better than seeing a smile on a childs face when they catch a big fish......or any fish. both of my granddaughters fish and love taking them out.

My granddaughter loves quantity over quality - she'd rather catch 30+ sunfish/rock bass.

That's a great fish.....looks as big as my biggest bass ever and I have been fishing for more than 40yrs.... Congratulations to your little guys success......
and for the others that only caught "stupid sunfish"..... keep trying (persistence) it will pay off....
