    Default New to Barrie/Borden

Hello all, as of august 15 I will be living in Borden, coming from Halifax. I am hoping to meet up with local hunters to get into tbe swing of things there when I arrive. I hunt everything here, small game, deer, and coyote, but my passion is in the waterfowl blind. I am especially interested in your turkeys. I have a 30-06, 12g and compound bow a with a box blind and a bunch of duck and geese decoys. Pm me if you'd be interested in getting together.

I used to live in Borden back in 82-86....they had a very active 'Rod and Gun' club on the base. I wonder if it still there, a good place to meet fellow hunters etc.

I think it's still up and running. Welcome to Simcoe County.

Excellent, I'm looking forward to the Ontario Outdoors, sure will miss the ocean fish though.

Welcome to the area. Lots of opportunity for the same game you're used to. Have to put the .30-06 away though. Essa Township has a no rifle by-law, so get used to the township boundaries after you arrive. .270 max for the dogs here.

Shotguns (slugs) for Deer or like mbhunter said, a rifle less than .270. Crossbows are also allowed here during the bow season. Also a Muzzleloader season come Dec.

If you are in the military you have hit the mother load. Make sure to join the Borden gun club. The place is over run with deer and turkey. As for waterfowl i'm not sure but Tiny Marsh is close by and a good hunting spot for waterfowl.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.
