Default Shipping pups via Air Canada- minimum age 12 weeks

    FYI:
Just received an email from a breeder who is shipping a pup via AC that the minimum age a pup can be shipped is 12 weeks effective Aug. 15th and that a health certificate is required to prove age. I looked on the AC website and found no mention of this. So if anyone is planning on shipping on pup soon via AC I recommend you call the airline direct...

I just picked up my pup and flew her back in the cabin with me with WestJet. Minimum age is 8 weeks and max weight is 20 lbs. I wasn't keen on throwing her in the cargo hold. I didn't need any documentation either.
So picking the pup up yourself is always another option if you want them before the 12 week mark.

I can't figure for the life of me why anyone flys AC...WestJet has been for many many years the more 'friendly' airline. Especially with hunters etc....excellent policy on guns etc.

WJ's runs are quite limited compared to AC, sometimes it's a matter of no choice.

Very true. I used a pet carrier over their size limits and they didn't bat an eyelash. I even let her poke her head out of the carrier throughout the entire flight including take off and landing and no problems, although I tried to hide that.

Hey Mike, why do you still have that avatar? Are you still in the corner?! lol

Are you sure that you would want Air Canada caring for your new best friend?

I flew AC back today, my carry-on bag that fit no problem in the overhead storage on the plane down apparently wouldn't fit in the same plane on the way back. I guess the plane must have gotten wet and shrunk? I was forced to check the bag and then wait around until the AC baggage crews had a chance to go through the bag to check for valuables before sending it to the baggage claim area. Reminded me why I stopped flying AC.
