Thanks for the heads up on a PA Flinter....I didn't know they existed. Not a bad alternative to be able to get a modern ML in a flintlock.
My question is more geared to the Old Kentucky flintlocks, I was wondering is anyone had used or tried Triple 7 FFFg in the older guns. Would it be OK in the flash pan ? Would it work OK if you used BP in flash and the T7 for the load ?

We were using y7 in ate flintlocks with lubed conical Minnie balls. Way to much fouling. Spent more time cleaning and trying to remove Jammed ram rods. Not a fun day at the range.

Some people put 5 grains if BP in the breach then top up with 777. More reliable ignition than with just the 777

I was told I could use "duplex loads" where there is a small amount of Goex and the rest modern powder. Lots of reading on net. Google flintlock duplex loads.

Has too much time on their hands
I have a friend who claims to use "Jim Shockley's Gold" powder as the main charge in his Traditions Kentucky flintlock with a priming charge of FFFFg.
Most flintlock shooters I know are so traditional that they'd give up shooting before they used anything but black powder!

I have duplexed loads before but found it a PIA so I stopped. Would it work straight up T7? Probably but would it work reliably is really the question. I'll try it next time out and let you know. The worst thing that can happen is I'll have to blow a load out with my CO2 EZ Unloader. lol
