try bringing in a 5 gal pail of apples and just leave the pail there ... cameras are a godsend ... video mode is information you're seeking.
there's a learning curve you'll go through
before the internet and blogs like this bear huntin was a big mystery ... most of the articles written are still using those old approaches. Every article is a regurgitation of previous ones! keep us posted

If going in to bait and there is a bear on your bait do u back out and come back later or do u scare him off and put your bait out?

If you can get a pail of Kentucky fried chicken grease pour that on the ground around your bait. The bears will step in it and track it where ever they walk and leave a scent trail back to your bait that other bears will follow
