Species , I have many books on grouse and they say that the clutch size can go 12 to 14 eggs. Thought that might help if you thought there was too many.
If God didn't want us to eat meat he wouldn't make animals out of it.

That settles it than. Grouse they are. Group size appears to be right in that neck of the woods.
Going to hunt them a little more proactively this fall as in the past it has been less planned and more reactive.
The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.

They look like ruffed grouse to me. In related news, I just bought a vintage, Remington 20ga semi.
