Remember to read the Regulations
Hunting season is upon us.
Just want to remind people to remember to read the regs.
Quite often I see people asking if they can use a rifle in what I know is a shotgun only area or I have even seen one person ask if he needed a license for deer or could he use his small game license.
It's fine to ask questions when a law or rule is difficult to understand. I ask lot's of questions on here all the time.
But if your going to hunt make sure you know the basics regulations.
If this is your first time hunting make sure you download or get a copy of the regulations and read them.
Here is a direct link to the MNR site with the regulations.

good Luck and Happy hunting.

Printing out local township by-laws which,in some areas, regulate firearm use (although rare, anymore, because most have been re-written to coincide with provincial regulations) can save you a ton of grief with the local motor-mouths and municipal law enforcement, too. The more information we have at our fingertips, the better.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

I have a hard copy for fishing and hunting, but sometimes some people just don't have an extra 45 sec to look it up. Forums like this get you pointed in some sort of direction real quick. I can't knock anyone for asking a lazy question. I have done it many times.
Heck today I was sitting in my canoe trying to figure out my goose limit, didn't make time for it before hand, and couldn't find the spot on the page (it was there, just couldn't see it), so I texted a friend, got the answer, kept on hunting. I appreciated his quick help on a 'stupid' question.

I think asking questions is a great thing. You get to learn a lot about a person from their responses on here so asking questions definitely plays a role in getting to know someone besides why look it up when interacting with a friend or family member is so much better. Grant it everyone should read the regs but memorizing it all just ain't going to happen....Lots of ways to get information, reading may be one of them but asking for it works too...
Happy hunting...

Sometimes waiting to read it in the blind might be a tad too late.

Except then you are relying on their interpretation of the rules and regs...and trusting that they are familiar with/have read the latest regs.
If this is your passion there is no reason not to read the regs and know the rules. No different than hockey, football or poker.

Agreed but asking for clarification or thinking outloud should be okay too....

Oh I agree asking for clarification is very good. I do it myself.
