Your bolt action 30-06 with a scope is nothing more than a long distance sniper rifle to them.

Another very good point to remember.

How many of you here that are throwing the 'AR crowd' under the bus have done anything in the fight to improve our firearms laws? My guess would be absolutely ZERO!
    Well said. I agree completely...

Since then,we've been successful in killing the long gun registry and are in the process of dismantling and re-writing the Firearms Act so it actually makes sense, notwithstanding, that the political party that came up with all this garbage,in the first place, got kicked to curb and we'll do our best to keep them there. This thread is 5 years old, but, that's OK. It's a common mistake by FNG's.

If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

First post by the OP, never posted on any other topic, and has never been back. A dead topic, best leave it that way.

I remember this thread and contributed a few posts to it.

Actually I think it's good to bring it back. The "fudds" need to be reminded that they have just as much to lose as the sport shooters when it comes to firearms laws. After the scary "black" guns are banned, then the handguns do you really think your "military sniper rifle" (.308 bolt with a scope) won't be next?
There is no room for a "holier than thou" attitude. Be very careful when you decide what someone else "needs".

    Do these sound familiar?
There is no need for anyone to hunt anymore when there is a grocery store.
You don't need a 300HP car or a pickup truck because it burns too much gas, causes global warming which kills the polar bears and makes baby Jesus cry....
    etc etc

"Fudds" don't need to be reminded of anything from the peanut gallery that seem to have forgotten that they've been dealing with this shyte longer than most of the youngsters have been hunting. Just sayin'.............

And the necro-post award goes to joe549.....5 years on, just wow.

Let's not ignore the fact that the legal Tavor, despite accepting LAR magazines, still would be limited to 5 rounds under the FWA.

@ Tony Mo, valid argument, but the OP was if the Tavor would be a good choice as a hunting rifle, which despite it's being totally legal, and stellar qualities as an assault rifle, it is not ideal as a hunting arm, and in the big picture, we must always be aware of optics with the non-firearm crowd. A point that many of the newer posters fail to grasp.

Hmm. Under review, it only limits for migratory and shotgun. Crim code says 5 rounds for semi.

So the OP can go drop his 3k on a tacti-cool plastic and metal toy for yotes, and drop a LAR mag in....

....yeah.....that's just what the pros do....

Actually the fire arma states a magazine must be pinned for 5 rounds for the ammunition listed.. Eg. .50 Beowulf pinned at five holds about 16 .223/5.56 and is still legal.. But only for non restricted...
