It doesn't matter if it is restricted or non-restricted.

    4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm
The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.
    Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted. A similar example is the 10 round capacity magazine for the Rock River Arms LAR-15 pistol, regardless of the kind of firearm it is actually used in.
    Just to stay on topic.

Yes. Been on CGN enough to know the end runs around the act.

still doesn't alter the fact that taking to the field to "hunt" yotes with a semi auto Tavor with an 18.6" bbl, is just this side of absurd. 10 rounds or 5.

Like many newbs on CGN, there's a lot of people out there looking to buy a toy, and find a justification for owning one short of to and from the range. You'll find tons of them on the EE forums on CGN, and they're constantly advertising their "lightly used" tactical rifles on my gun clubs boards...Robinson Arms XCR, KEL TEC SU-16s, you name it.
"Camo" is perfectly acceptable as a favorite colour.

Wow, I just try to be sure to place my first shot properly, not the four or nine after that, guess I have been going about this whole thing the wrong way

It so much more fun and alot less rangetime just to pull the old "spray and pray"[emoji6]
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

I agree we should be able to own whatever we want within reason (following safe handling and ownership practices), but anyone that tells me they need 10 rounds in a hunting rifle "in case" a pack of coyotes come in won't be hunting with me. If you want to look like Rambo have at'r, but stay on the range.

That about sums it up,perfectly. Can you imagine lugging a rifle around all day with a full box or two of ammo in the mag? I get tired just thinking about it.LOL
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Why can you not hit anything with an 18.6in barrel?

You may lose some velocity but that will do nothing to accuracy.

Who cares what they use, that is like saying if your hunting rifle does not have a wood stock you cannot use it for hunting or you cannot bring a shotgun with slugs / 30-30 or anything else for gun deer season.

It is legal, if you have the $3000 to buy the rifle then go use it to hunt, better then having a restricted safe queen.

What makes a Tavor "absurd" or impractical for hunting if it shoots 1MOA with a 5.56mm round?

I have one of those cartridge holder sleeves that fits over the stock of my rifle. It holds 9 rounds and I fill it up when I go hunting. Am I not supposed to be doing that since I only use one round?

While short barrels may point the bullets in a more consistent direction, the lower velocity sometimes subjects the bullets to a longer time exposed to crosswinds, which are not always constant, leading to sometimes larger groups. Most experienced shooters have to look at the BC of the bullets, bullet shape, winds, etc. also.

Heck, want to drop $3000 on a semi auto to go shoot yotes with? Have at 'er. But arguing that it would be a more optimal gun, than say the same chambering in a bolt gun? Not going to agree with you.

If it were the better system out there for going afield for varmints, I'm pretty sure you'd see more of them on shows like Predator Quest. There are a few tarted up AR variants on there, and having shot a few, I'll admit they're nice. Similarly there are nice ones chambered in .308 / 7.62x51NATO that would do the job on moose / deer, as a previous poster has indicated.

Having a newb post on here about buying one for poking yotes, and slapping a 10 round LAR mag in to do so doesn't smell quite right, but as you've pointed out....it's legal.

IMHO, 3K to spend on one gun with that intent seems a bit wasteful, since a highly accurized 700, or other similar bolt gun could be had for 1/2 that, and still leave some money to play with some other toys.

Then again, having shot a ton of C6s, C7s, C8s, C9s, and lots of other tactical toys in my previous life, I guess the excitement of playing with their semi-auto cousins has worn off.
