Yep, it's that time of the year!

I had a nice hit around dusk but the hooks couldn't find something to set into.

Another 30min later, Richard's friend hooked a nice one...gave a good fight...but the hooked fell out.

Then it was Richard's turn...2 fish on 6 casts...cookie cutter males.

Not to be outdone, I redeemed myself another 20min later...chunky female.

We fished for another 30min and decided to call it a night at 9:30pm.

By the condition of the fish, this is just the first wave. Hopefully the peak will last 2-3 weeks.

Beautiful fish. Sound like a great evening.
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

Nice going boys!! Any idea if you think the fish will have reached the upper tribs yet?, say 401/Hwy 7 area? I was out in a good salmon creek last wenesday, but no fish yet.

It really depends on the trib. East tribs probably...Toronto tribs may not...west trips are still early. We were fishing basically right by the lake...so it's very different from upper reaches.

Some decent color and life still in those fish. That's fun fishing right there.

Hey just getting into fishing, i live in scarborough and i've heard about the Salmon running up the Rouge. I dont really know anyone in the area and the guys at the tackle shop look at me like im crazy when i bring it up. Where abouts are you pulling these amazing fish from? I've been scouring google maps and popping in to section of the river to see if i can find anything but so far nothing (I have fun urban adventuring anyways).

Also looks like its nightime, is that a good time for fishing salmon? I have young kids so evening/nights are the time i can fish the most.

I was out east of TO the other night. Lots of fish running but nothing hitting for me. Anything still edible? I hate fishing and not bringing home dinner.....
