Default Nice too see the first woodcock of the fall

Took the dog out for some exercise today. Kind of surprised when she locked up on point figured she was messing with a cottontail however should of known by the intensity of her tail it was a woodcock. After a short point it flushed winging it's way down the trail. Normally don't see them here till well into the migration but I think with all this rain a local bird may have relocated to the flooded pools in the bush.

I went to my favourite spot yesterday but nothing yet.

Birds and dogs don't know the regs. Hope to get out Friday or Saturday even if it's just a walk in the woods.

I think the woodcock numbers are up. The pup had been putting up multiple birds the last few weeks
