Don Frigo Remembered - memories
I thought perhaps the folk who knew Don could post here.( The names seem to be public on all dog trialing forums now.)
Rest in peace my dear friend. Thank you for all the kindness and help you showed this beginner over the years.... and for lending me that wild horse.
Don and Ch Silver

I knew Don, he was a true gentleman and a great contributor to the field trialing community. He will be sorely missed.

from Neil (judge) who is not a member here , but wanted to say something:
"Don was a long time, much respected Shooting Dog Owner/Amateur Handler with many successes, Champions Belfield Silver and Tall Rivers amoung his many winners he had with Mike Hester. He was a true gentleman and most gracious, winning and losing. I reported the US SD Invitational the year Silver won, he was overly complimentary on my writing, more praise for the competitors was his only suggestion for improvement. He laughingly explained the better you make them look the more impressive his win.
We have lost a great man." quote Neil

People can hate on the Star all they like, but this is the paper that has written the news story as a tribute to Frigo. Classy coverage of this one.
A pioneering member of Ontario’s hunting dog community is dead after a weekend shooting at a conservation area near Clinton, Ontario.
Don Frigo, 70, and his wife Eva Willer are royalty in the Ontario competitive hunting dog community, credited with preserving the sport of field trials for pointer dogs— something the pair were doing the weekend Frigo was shot.

What kind of a world do we live in now? My condolences to this gentleman's family and friends.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

The world is full of people that would think nothing of taking another's life for any perceived slight, real or imagined. It seems like there's nutbars everywhere, anymore.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Don was a consummate gentleman, both on and off the trial grounds. His contribution to the O.B.D.C.A. is immeasurable. As such, his absence will be felt both on a personal and a professional level.

Don was terrific, I remember how welcome he made this then 15 year old punk feel at his first field trial. Don chaired the Canadian Open Shooting Dog Championship every spring, and represented our field trial region as trustee with the Amateur Field Trial Clubs of America. Don loved Hullett and knew every square inch of it. If you needed someone to "scout" your dog, Don was the man because he knew the grounds like no one else. To help ensure the continuation of field trials at Hullett, Don worked diligently to get a letter from the Ministry of Natural Resources outlining the OBDCA's historical contributions and future commitments to our access for spring and fall field trials. Rest in peace my friend,
