Scratch that. Hit one. I'd say a 10ish coho. Bad pick wanted to get her back fast. Took a bead head woolly bugger on a float, eat it for sure. They've also hit a couple on spinners too earlier and a crank, but most don't bite.

Using the wrong rod for sure a weed ripping walleye rod. It's stiff but very short.
Anyhow its a nice sight to see them, so this is just a bonus.

    Thx again the tips

[QUOTE=BlackandTan;821882]Chinooks get dark because they stop eating, it has nothing to do with them coming in and out. The colour of the fish depends on how long its been since its stopped eating. Hence why some salmon are jet black in october and november. That's my point when they stop eating they enter the spawning stage and darken to me that fish that has entered the spawning stage is no longer fresh, it may be fresh from the lake but its been staging for a couple weeks at that point. Also to marksbellino I fish in the lake from early to late august and 90% of the fish we get on riggers are chrome. Also it takes me around a half hour to land a chrome salmon on 10 pound line unless its a coho. Almost all salmon jump when you are fighting them especially males if you are judging that they are fresh by the fact that they jump you are hugely mistaken.

The fact that you have your son out with you teaching him to enjoy and respect the outdoors might be the most important part of the whole deal.
    Good luck to you both.

I haven't seen one in weeks. Not interested in arguing semantics with you regarding steelhead bud.
    Good luck.

ALL nice fish guys. I always get a kick out of a 16 yr old kid teaching guys in here how to fish and what is what. PA, you do realize some of the guys you spew your hot headed info to have lost more fish than you'll ever catch. Keep chirpin' though, you might even run into a few out on the water this year and have to tuck the tail between the legs.......again.
    This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......
