I think I will bring both with me, but, what others say on here may help me make up my mind as to what I take into the woods.
Do you mean a .32 Winchester special? If you're most comfortable with it, use it. You just won't be able to reach out as far as with a .308. Keep your shots under 150 yards. Lots of moose have fallen to "Grandpa's gun" over the years.

OK gents, for those of us who can't stand for long times on our watches, and need something to sit on. Here is an awesome lil unit you can make. or have your significant other make, or convince your sons or daughters to make for you. We have used this camping, and I have used it on my watches, simple and easy to set up. the only neg to this is, it's way to comfortable and could possibly induce a closed eye session on your watch.

Yes the .32 Winchester special. I think that I will give the old girl ( 1924 ) a chance, grandpa would like that. Thanks for you input.

other than the obvious..... a compass, good knife, lighter, small folding saw and a 60oz bottle of Wisers to celebrate (or drain your sorrows)

It comes in small package, easily packable and if it rains, it doesn't get soaked like TP would sitting in your bag.
Great advice. Not to mention how cheap they are.

If you do it right, everything should fit in a standard back pack.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

That is what I assumed, but does wearing a standard size backpack ( less than 20 litres), violate the hunter orange requirements?

Has too much time on their hands
A rifle that will kill your moose right close to that logging road your walking on.
