It is almost the same price to shoot your SKS now as your .22LR, pretty crazy.
I was told the other day though that the US is not longer bringing in Russian guns and ammo, so maybe the 7.62x39mm stock will dry up soon too.

If you think loaded ammo is getting hard to find, try buying powder and primers to load your own...

have never had luck with winchester shells in my .22... out of a box of 50 i would ussually have at least 3 misfires, last time i used winchesters i had one that didnt fire but i seen a little bit of smoke come from the chamber... i unloaded and found a empty casing, looked down my barrel, and about a inch from the end of the barrel, was the bullet lodged in there... had i shot another round without checking out, it would not have bin good... havent bought another winchester shell in any calibre since...

Another contributing factor is since the margins are so low for 22's there is little motivation for manufacturers to upgrade their machines to up output.

I was in the Home Hardware in Durham today and they had three 1000 round boxes of 40 grain Winchesters. Price was 54.99 a box. I have lots so didn't bother with it.

You want to watch those! I bought a bunch from our local Hh, couldnt figure out why they wouldnt shoot well for me. Turns out they are also on recall. They're one letter off on the serial so I didnt think anything of it.
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

I've been watching for birdshot and long rifle CB caps. Can't find either around here. Regular 22 ammo seems to be on shelves so far, but I've got enough of that....
