When I was a kid , growing up on the farm, in Saskatchewan, I caught one in a leg-hold trap, under the chicken coop, by the back leg. Getting hit between the eyes is something you'll never forget!

950fps .177 cal pellet to the noggin does the trick. No major nerve firing thus no spraying. You then have about three minutes before the muscles relax and the stink comes. Three down this year without incident.
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

I have done the blanket over the trap as well with no undesirable effects although they are sometimes reluctant to leave and just sleep until dark before escaping.

Live trap with a can of tuna with a blanket already set on top of it. In the truck and down to the morgue.
