I really need to find some good coverts. Woodcock are quite elusive to me. I just pop the odd one up when grouse hunting. Never been able to actually connect with one

Oct. 7 in "the Clinton area," we flushed one bird out of a classic spot: young aspen. Given the tiny size of the cover this was likely a flight bird. I am still finding few birds there, but we have had persistent south winds.
That was the only bird on the day but I was busy with pheasants. 
Wind supposed to be swinging to the north for the weekend....

Has too much time on their hands
I'll be hunting Hullett Friday or Saturday. Still haven't gotten all the burr's out of Elly's ears.

Sept.25th and 26th we flushed 30 to 40 woodcock in a total of 6 hours of hunting. Only killed one.

Put up 9 birds yesterday. Thames river area outside London. Usually only move 3 or 4 there.

Very strong winds today up here. Should thin a bit of the foliage.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.
