Default Is there ang Mininum age for big game hunting (Moose/Deer)?

I know you can take the hunters course at the age of 12 and hunt as an apprentice sharing a gun ( 3 years) and then you can hunt at 16. Is there a Minimum age for big game hunting (Moose/Deer) in Ontario? I ask because when I started hunting 20 odd years ago in NB you could get your FAC and hunt small game at 16 but you could not deer/moose hunt until 18. So is there a restriction?

I was hunting moose @16. My nephew is 15 with his first small game. With parental permission, I believe he could hunt moose/deer/bear/elk in appropriate seasons with appropriate licenses.

I could be be wrong, but I don't think you can do that as an apprentice hunter.

As long as they have their minors permit + apprentice paperwork they will be fine. Just cant be off on their own while hunting. I went moose hunting when I was 13, just couldnt have my own gun and be by myself...

My son shot his big buck when he was 12, he had done and passed his hunters and firearms courses just 2 months before.

When it comes to age, all hunting in Ontario is treated the same, from squirrel to moose.

As far as I read, 16 or 15 with parent consent.

So the young lad can hunt big game, but it will be another 6 years before my son can. He will get his beginners in 3 more years. Wow that will put me to at 48 and 51 before he can go on his own..

The age for hunting any game is the same for all of it as mentioned above. The rules for being an apprentice are in place from 12 - 15 or 16 depending on parental permission and what a hunter uses such as a gun or bow. The firearm Act determines at what age a person can carry a gun on their own and under what conditions.
