I told him this bear was a new record and I was trying to bait it away from the dump. that was the only reason he shot it, and yes he did admit it to me, just to put his name in the record books.
lol, Is he your buddy? Because if your comments are true, The shooter could be looking at a fine and have to forfeit the bear...

Sound's like some investigating to me ? Said person had to go kill it? friend/ aquatence ? 1st post ? either ratting someone he know's out or just jealous? let the power's at be tell us whether it's legit ? Why wasn't the shooter at he weigh in? I would be if I thought I had a trophy let alone a potential record? interesting??

Sounds like someone tried to do it legal and is sick of the attention someone who poached Is getting, I would of gone through the tip line but this will get the same results with a little more to talk about and welcome aboard honestly.

My first taste of bear back in the 70's was a dump bear. While the taste of it was so-so, you couldn't cook it in the house because the smell was so strong it would stick around for days. Kind of a waste of a tag.

Thing is, we don't know, we? I've been around long enough to know that forming an opinion about a third party, based on the allegations of an anonymous tipster, is very, very risky.
If "honestly" is honestly an honest and ethical hunter, then he no doubt called MNR immediately if there honestly was/were an infraction(s).

And why should we believe you ? I am not saying you are lying but to come on an open public forum and accuse someone of poaching without proof is quite slanderous. Did you report it to the MNR ? This thread should be closed unless there is proof the bear was taken illegally.

In your first post you said you had to shoot it to kill it and proceeded to remove the bear from the dump with Mike. Sounds like you are as guilty as he is if the story is true. I will wait for more facts and proof before I throw this guy out with the bath water.
