Misty's Update
Getting ready for the upcoming deer season, for the past three months' Misty has been on a constant diet of her regular food, and satin balls - needless to say, I think she's ready. Finally hitting the 50lb mark last night, but not "fat", she's got quite a lot of muscle definition.
We've also been supplementing her diet (with veterinarian instruction) with peanut butter, steel cut oats, and quite a bit of freezer burnt venison, donated from various friends over the past year.
As the dogging season draws closer her level of drive and desire to run gets stronger and stronger. I can't wait to let her lose and see what she can do this year!
On another note, we have finally registered with Big Game Blood Trackers Ontario; I've been doing some lead based tracking with her and she seems to have the idea - will be a big change from last year when all the deer I tracked were done off-leash (tisk! tisk! tisk! on my part). I just hope she can still perform as well and find some lost game for folks.
Good luck to everyone else and their dogs - hitting the birds (water or upland), and those running dogs on big game this season!
