badgers in southern ont
does anybody belive we have badgers in southern ont anybody got any storys about badgers .
after my morning hunt I was in the lane chatting with my dad when I fellow in a pickup truck pulled in the lane with a antenna out his window. I figgerd it must be a coon hunter looking for a hound .turns out he was tracking a badger .this badger was on are farm and we got to chat with him about the badgers and what thy were up to .I have never seen one but he says there is between 200 and 300 in the province .pretty cool to learn something new about animals on are land .I have trapped and hunted this area for more then 30 years and never seen one .anyway lets hear for someone that has seen one .Dutch

Dutch seen one by my house 3 times now. I thought it was a raccoon but this thing was 2x a coon. Got to asking around and it is a badger.

Badgers in Ontario are mostly restricted to the most southwestern portion of the province, where there is an estimated population of fewer than 200 badgers. Norfolk and surrounding counties are where most recent sightings have come from, though badgers can turn up in surprising locations. Dispersing juveniles in particular can move extremely far from where they were born. There have also been reports of badgers in the Bruce-Grey region, as well as in the northwestern part close to the Minnesota border.

I have read a few times about a mating pair in the Waterford area. Conservationist have been aware and monitoring them over the past few years. Really cool animals.

In the late 1990's I volunteered on the "Ontario Atlas of Mammals" and there were several badger sightings in south western Ontario.
Member of the National Firearms Association (NFA).

Yep the main bunch is down your way Dutch , they contacted me about supplying info on sightings 2 years ago , but I haven't came across anything for them yet
You got one shot at life where are your sights aimed today ?

I have never seen or heard of badger in my area....
I heard a few guys talking about seeing a wolverine in the mckeller area this week......I bet it was a fisher.....
