Default When woodcock leave time to work on the grouse

Got to the bush this morning still expecting to find some woodcock. Hit the spots where I've found them earlier however it looks like they vacated the area. Switched gears and worked for the grouse that eluded me earlier. While woodcock hunting like to work the dog close. Results in grouse running forward and flushing out of range. When grouse are on the menu she works a bit further out and I track her with the bell. Watching her and listening the tempo of the bell alerts me to the grouse. Nice when it works out.

Don't get me wrong love grouse and highly prize them as southern grouse are very elusive. Prefer woodcock as the pointer really shines then love watching her work a sitting bird lock on point and the intensity she shows its like she's signaling its there! its there!

Think its a mix of smug pride as she held them at point at least for a brief time however at 10 it may be more exhaustion.
