Camp Menu Ideas ?
Guys;
Any creative ideas for meals for the deer camp.
The first few days we eat fish, and prime rib, the really perishable goods.
But how do you avoid the likes of chilli, spaghetti, lasagna at the end of the week...
Our small guys are 220lbs, so we need to pour the calories into these doggers....

We moved away fro the "red sauce" based foods.
We do a wild turkey deep fry
fish and chips night
everyone bring your own steak night
sausage / burger night
grouse, duck, goose night.

At our place every guy brings a frozen casserole or stew. Each day one comes out and gets thrown on the stove in the morning. Ready to go for lunch when we get back.
I made something with broccoli and chicken and mushroom one year that was pretty good.

I like the turkey deep fryer idea.
How long to cook a bird that way....45 minutes ?

What! No chilli? What is a small hunt camp fille with guys without the resonating after effects of a hearty bowl of chilli or some good old cabbage rolls?
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

The food was awesome, the girls came in on camp setup day, bbq'd dogs, burgers etc, then good meals, then it kinda slipped, and it was spaghetti, chili, stew, (red based sauce) and it wears thin (so to speak) so brought it back to "eating like kings"

3-4 minutes a pound, get the oil to 375 - 400 degree's,
Peanut oil is the best, but most expensive, (highest smoke point / flashpoint) then the others.
Can also cut off the wings and legs and toss them in for more even cooking then leaving attached.

We have every hunter supply one dinner. That is every thing from hors douevres right through to dessert including wine. And then they have to do the dishes too. We use the BBQ a fair bit but don't mind a meal of Chili later in the week. That stuff stays frozen like a friken ice age mammoth trapped in a glacier. I just put up a bunch of pickled eggs tonight actually. Deer camp without a jar of pickled eggs on the table just doesn't seem right.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.
