Default Garmins , MURS and Existing Telemetry Systems

Head office of Industry Canada has now handed me down to a Regional office. I got an email from a Chris Julien.

According to a letter to 2002 and contained in the email... The existing telemetry systems also require a license.

"Finally, I invite you to inform your Canadian customers, buying wildlife telemetry equipment, that the appropriate spectrum office of Industry Canada should be contacted regarding the licensing process. The contact information for the District and Regional offices is located in Industry Canada’s Radiocommunication Information Circular 66 document (RIC-66). This document may be found on the Industry Canada Strategis website, under Licenses and Legislation at the following address:

    http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/SSG/sf01347e.html

I trust that this letter adequately addresses this subject. However, should you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue, please do not hesitate to contact me. "

Repeated in an email to me today.

The implementation of these devices were scheduled to be permitted in Canada as of June 2014, but the Department does not feel that the introduction of MURS devices is warranted at this time, and has decided to defer the introduction of MURS devices in Canada. For the other issue dealing with Wildlife Telemetry Devices operating on other frequencies, there is no Radio Standard Specification (RSS), and the Department does not require certification of these devices. However, the operation of Wildlife Telemetry Devices is only permitted through the issuance of a licence from Industry Canada. The attached letter that was sent out to manufacturers of Wildlife Telemetry Devices, further explains the process. It goes back a long way but the process has not changed.

Wow now they have thousands of the old system to chase down in Ontario alone.
