I had two colleagues that were taken to task after charges against an individual for "resisting" were dismissed because he wasn't allowed to inspect their ID when he requested. It didn't matter to the judge that the skell was a dirt bag. It lead to changes in in-service training techniques for staff working on plain clothes details and,ASFAIK,it's still in use, today.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

That was probably in the dark ages.....there are more officers working in a plain clothes capacity now, than there ever was. Drugs, Intel, Internet crime, biker enforcement units, domestic violence units, General investigations units, homicide units....to name a few. Not many people question authenticity of police badges and warrant cards now. Like I said, those that do, and decide to obstruct, have the right to a speedy trial.

Yessir! That's why we have courts and you're right,it's hard to imagine that it was as long ago as it was. Lots of water has gone under the ol' bridge since then.LOL

What's a speedy trial? Last one I was a crown witness for spanned 4 years.... and than the guy pled guilty.

Having a good look at such ID is hardly obstructing. Without allowing a reasonable inspection of said I'D what is the purpose...could be flashing me a library card and cracker jack prize for all I know if I don't get to actually examine it. Perhaps I can just flash my DL no need for examination right? Next time I go thru CBSA I'll just flash my passport. Same difference.
