no I do not .I would rather shoot button bucks in the wild all day then shoot anything in high fence area ,the wild deer on are farms are way smarter then any high fence deer every could be even the button bucks that follow the smart old does around all year .Dutch

Shooting high fence animals is more like interior decorating than it is hunting.

When in doubt, check with Aldo Leopold, one of the founders of the science of wildlife management.

There are some activities that are clearly unfair as well as unethical. At the top of the list is shooting captive or domesticated big game animals in commercial killing areas where a person with a gun is guaranteed an animal to shoot. These shooting grounds are alien to any consideration of ethical hunting. When discussing the ethic of fair chase, it is important to clarify that we are talking about hunting free-ranging wild animals.
It's also dishonest to title your thread "scored 191 5/8 typical". That's the B&C scoring system and your deer actually measures a big, fat ZERO on the Boone & Crockett scale as it's against their fair chase statement. If it's not fair chaise, it's not B&C and it's not hunting.

FAIR CHASE, as defined by the Boone and Crockett Club, is the ethical, sportsmanlike, and lawful pursuit and taking of any free-ranging wild, native North American big game animal in a manner that does not give the hunter an improper advantage over such animals.
If the property owner had 50 cows in a 500 acre bush, their behavior would probably be similar to those deer.

Edit: I'm condemning the behavior and the hunting industry that convinced you that this was some kind of accomplishment. You seem like a nice guy which makes it even more important to examine what motivated you.

I did not say B&C. Base on the measuring to score the ranch measured it and came in at 191 5/8. Was I so post to weight it? As I have said before and respect everyone's opinion on this thread I to hunt fair chase 99.9% of the time. This is a hunt I wanted to try as I never experience it. It was fun, exciting,a good road trip, met wonderful people, and bonus I got a wall hanger. The excitement, feeling, adrenalin rush of getting this deer was same as fair chase to me. Especially the size!!! Cheers

The man drives a pick up truck ,has a beautiful blond wife who supports hunting and harvesting and just got himself a smasher of a deer yet some of you lads just want to condemn him like he shot your pet pygmy goat that was tied up . Or next time maybe to appease some here just shoot the tiniest fawn , Marc . LOL

Kudos to you Marc, for your candor and honesty and above all else for harvesting this big boy . Congrats .

Many hardcore QDM guys come on public forums and make backhanded compliments to people who shoot small bucks. Some make downright rude comments. They attempt to impose their view and look down on those who believe differently.

Im not implying you are doing so now, but we've chased a fair number away from this forum in the past.

Not "some" of us but pretty much the vast majority of the hunting community who shares Aldo's position. We constantly fight the perceptions of our sport and lifestyle and you guys condone this! Preposterous!

The next time if you want to do this don't post it on a hunting board.

"...was same as fair chase to me. Especially the size!!! Cheers"

The size is nothing like fair chase. That's the point and the fact you did this is one thing. The fact you posted it here is wrong and all these tools who enjoy their little internet forum cliche and like to keep the love- in alive should be ashamed of themselves for condoning anything about this showing up on their board.

I'll say it again...y'all are big hypocrites.

Okay go ahead and rip away at how I messed with your wonderful little respectful exchanges with each other. This post showed no respect to the sport of hunting so I care not to worry about respecting the premise of it just the same.

Marc you say you respect everyone's opinion and yet from the get go you knew this would elicit negativity. Your desire to get recognized and share in this superseded that point or you would of never put this up. The masses are quiet on it in fear of getting ripped for being "mean" or not showing good nice posting behavior but you got your little pats on the back so good on you for that at least. I think you are big problem to the future of hunting even if you fair chase the other 99.9% and are dam good at it.

You forgot to add a few words "The excitement, feeling, adrenalin rush of getting this deer was same as fair chase to me. Especially the size!!!"

I stand by what i said not "...was same as fair chase to me. Especially the size!!" As you dissected.
