I know of 3 hunters that followed this routine last winter and are still waiting for their bounty money.
It is not as easy as it sounds, as every one and their uncle would be applying for the bounty money. If you want to jump through all the hoops and say yes sir no sir i'll do anything you want sir ? then go ahead
Not sure where you are jaycee, but here in Dufferin, while the bylaw is worded so it looks fairly onerous, it's not really. I won't get into details on here, since I'm writing as a private citizen, and not a member of County staff, but suffice it to say the bylaw on paper looks worse than it is.

I know lots of farmers in Dufferin county that have tried to get bounty on coyotes. Never happens. The hoops you have to jump threw is not worth it, Have to pretty much prove that coyote you shot is indeed the one that killed the livestock.

x2, I know large sheep, pig and cattle farms that have tried in the past. They never had any success. One place had 14 sheep killed in a week. Figured it was a pair of coyotes doing it....One group ran the hounds there and killed 11 coyotes that day....Not one coyote was turned into bounty, Because they couldn't prove these coyotes actually killed the sheep, Even though they had sheep contents in their stomachs.

Funny, because I'm the guy that usually winds up with the ears after they've been confirmed from our clerk....
I see two posters who "know some people, who....", yet I know firsthand that once the shooter has the farmer fill out the paperwork, ( no MNR visit is necessary, nor are County staff required to come out) that is a matter of verifying how many ears are in the bag, and a cheque req is authorized from Treasury, cheques go out on Wednesdays.
There are two programs out there involving compensation. One is a bounty on coyotes, the other is a compensation program for livestock lost to predation. Are you absolutely positive that you're not citing the latter? That process is indeed more involved, and does require proof of livestock being killed by coyote.
Not saying you're wrong, but somewhere, there is some misinformation going out....if you want verification of my bona fides then PM me.

No. Lots of municipalities have enacted bylaws to provide bounty for coyote kills.

Yes, Your right. I was talking about live stock predation, Not bounty. Don't know how I got the two mixed up because I know the difference.
If their is a bounty on coyotes in Dufferin county, Where do I collect, Because I know about 15 guys with hounds that will be licking their lips this winter......
