Default Making Smoke; the 2014 season

Who's all planning to get out hunting with their smoke(less)poles next week ? ..hopefully there are lots of guys chomping at the bit. This is my favourite hunt of the year and I look forward to it the most.

The weather doesn't look great, mostly above '0' predicted for the week here in Eastern Ont. I'd rather have it snowing that rain, but it is what it is, have to make the best of it.

My trail cams have NOT been showing any signs of Antlered deer in the bush I plan to hunt. It's been a bleak year for Buck sightings in general, but hopefully they will show up. I have a few cute does hanging around that should spark some interest eventually

Anyway, wishing you all good fortune and have a safe hunt.

I will be out bright and early Monday morning. I booked the week off of work so in no rush to shoot the first deer I see but do have a doe tag if the buck signs are just not there where I plan to hunt. I already have half a deer share in the freezer from the shotgun hunt so this will not be a stressful week and I will be enjoying the mild temperature that is in the forecast.

By far this is now my favourite hunt s well. I used to go out with my crossbow a lot but now just reserve the archery hunt for the end of the year if required to fill the freezer.

Good luck with the muzzle loader everyone!

I plan on getting out but unfortunately maybe not until the weekend. Work always gets in the way! I'm also at the mercy of the other guys in my group as my tags are gone.

Good luck to you Mike and to everyone else making smoke next week!

I will be out as much as possible. I'm in the middle of doing a steel roof and it takes priority on the nicer days. Sure is challenging hunting in the rain with a flintlock .. oh well take it as it comes. Good luck everyone. .

Still have a doe tag and the ML hunt is often the best. You're right Mike, don't like hunting in the rain.

Good luck to all! I'm sidelined this year with a blood clot in my left leg.
