Williams Arms has been great to deal with, they always have time to jaw about whatever product you are looking at.

Williams Arms is an excellent shop. If they don't have it they will get it for you.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Anyone use Orion outdoors? They are somewhere in Durham, the catalogue looks pretty decent.

Wow seems pretty resounding that most of you really recommend at least checking out William's Arms. I will have to have a drive over there one day soon
Thanks for all your input!
Totally new to hunting. Please excuse my ignorance. That is all.

Port isn't that far from cannington, just confirm hours of operation before you go. They don't do 9-9 mon-sun like big boxers. Prices are always competitive or better than elsewhere.
another store is Easthill outdoors on the 115 hwy in Orono. I have heard that there are former gagnons guys in there and people that I know have been happy with experience. Especially on the archery front.

Just so you all know, I went to William's Arms this weekend as per most of your suggestions and it was a fantastic experience! I told the gentleman right off the bat that my PAL hadn't come in yet but he was more than williang to spend 20 minutes talking to me and my wife about scopes, the Mossberg 500 combo, .22 ammo and training hunting dogs. Thanks so much for letting me know about this place! Excited to go back in a few months with my PAL!

Did they have any .22 ammo in stock?

They did John! Some high velocity Winchester rounds and a bit of plinking ammo. I would say their usual shelf space was maybe 1/5 full? Not much but more than any other stores I have seen in the area.
