I will be out for 3 days....will alternate between Thompson Hawken .54 cal and a Knight Revolution .50 cal. I already shot a doe with the Hawken in the regular season.

Well hopefully this morning hunt is a good sign..I had 2 does. 2 fawns and a spike horn go thru the shooting lanes before 8:00 am..nice to see that there are moving.
Beautiful sunrise, cool morning with a North wind blowing straight into my face..doesn't get any better than that !!

Glad to hear your optimism is still up there Mike. Some of my best archery hunts have been between Christmas and New Years!
Three of us were out yesterday afternoon. It was a challenge to stay warm but the propane heater helped...lol
Due to the bright sunny day we had, only buddy saw a buck and doe at a distance near a corn field but too far for an ML shot. He reported that they were on high alert the whole time he observed them. My son and I never saw anything even though there was fresh tracks in the general area we were hunting.
We had last Monday's buck tenderloin I shot on the Bar-b-que tonight. Delicious meat for a corn and soya fed deer...lol Finish this off with a CC and ginger in front of the fireplace while I type this and life is definitely good!

We BBq'd our tenderloin and back straps of our corn/soya feed doe that I shot at rifle camp as our last meal of the week. It was crazy tender, absolutely delicious, the guys commented they had never ate such nice meat.
Yes, I'm still looking forward to getting out for a few more hunts. I too have had success in past years during to late bow season, some challenging hunting.
add: In fact I recall the biggest buck I have ever seen around here was just before Christmas about 3 years back, he snuck in and caught me flat footed....then stared at me for a good 2 minutes, I couldn't move to grab the bow....he walked away...

Keep at it fella's. My boy's still have their tags to use. Mine got used up down south in the controlled hunt. All were shot with the shotguns this year.We tagged out on Thursday. So my boy's and I will be out with the archery gear to try and fill their tags. I'll push for them.
Pete. Get well soon!!!
