ya i know who it was... followed his atv tracks to his house one day... my bait site is easy to find, so he knew full out what he was doing... such is crown land hunting, and being sucessfull in a area for a few years, why i now have a bait site that even my buddy dosent know about
lol i tagged out early as i normally do, so he really wasnt a hinderance to me, i only ever seen him go to the stand once while i was down there, i drove my atv up to his, but didnt go any further, as i was over it at that point and didnt wanna destroy his hunt... plus i prefer not to have encounters with people who are holding high powered rifles lol
fishy steve
id rather be lost in the woods, than found in the city!

A legal contract can be written up by a lawyer, that a resident bear hunter must sign when contracting a bear outfitter, stating he will not in the future, bait on his own within, say, 5 miles of any bait site, of the outfitter he contracted to bear hunt with.

I was confronted last night by this fellow that guides for an Outfitter. Maybe worth looking into as they have large bears in their BMU as well and its not over hunted.

With all the years I have been hunting I only had one guy moving in close to my bait
I wrote my own legal contract and I put it on his truck windshield
never saw him again

Any such document would hold no water as an outfitter does not own the land and therefore cannot control where an individual hunts or travels on any crown land within his licence. The prospective hunter has no obligation to sign it so the only recourse would be that the outfitter does not take the resident on as a client.

Encroachment by residents was never a serious problem with BMAs that were out any distance from the built up areas as is yours. It remains a problem for those outfitters whose BMAS surround the city and towns. A guy wont drive an hour to hunt when he can leave his house and be hunting 5 or 10 miles away.

Saw bill, it actually does hold water in a court of law.
I take resident deer hunters here. I have yet to have a past deer hunting resident client come back on his own and hunt my bait sites. I have full respect of the resident hunter. After all it is the residents resources us outfitters are using.
I have been to hundreds of sports shows advertising my camp and what it offers. Too many times I see Ontario camps false advertising their hunts. Such as: Saying they have 30 years experience bear hunting. Meanwhile the camp owner just bought his camp the year before.
One thing I tell my potential clients is that I am a Full Time Canadian resident. I live in Ontario year round within my 9 bear management areas.
There are many instances where Ontario outfitters live and are residences of the U.S. They fill their camp of bear hunters and fishermen. Some of these outfitters find out after they book their camp up that they cannot cross into Canada to run their camps because of past or new criminal records. Two outfitters alone in this area are in that predicament. Their booked clients lost their deposits unfortunately. Lots to think of when booking a hunt with an outfitter.
