It can also be done if your scope is marked in MOA, the math will just be different. First focal plane scopes were more popular in Europe but are gaining ground in North America. I love mine! You don't need a FFP you can range with a SFP on max power or where ever that particular scope is set for the elevation marks.
Here's a tip given to me a few moons back.....
When using MOA turrets, if you take a shot @ 500 yds and miss by 10 inches you simply divide the miss by the hundredth of the range so 10/5.00 = 2.0 MOA correction, and send another round.
I try to stay away from mil dot reticles and MOA turrets but I was originally taught that way and still have some. Once you get the trigger time, one can just see the splash in the reticle and mentally move that splash image to the target send one, and make the hit, no cranking knobs and it's fast.
Or just don't miss on the first shot. lol
