    Bottom of the barrel.
Bears are not that common and deer are good in some places and becoming scarce in others.
Almost 100 percent of the island is private and you need permission to hunt.

2nd... written permission is paramount. If you don't have a piece of paper from the landowner, be prepared for headaches!

I know a few people who hunt deer on Manitoulin and it sounds like this was a terrible year for them.

I have lots of friends that hunt the island and do well I have never heard of a group that didn't get anything during the rifle hunt. This year was harder because they had a foot of snow to deal with. My brother shot a doe on the second day. I have hunted two years for the last two days of the season and one year missed a nice doe and the next seen some but never had a shot.

Our group of 4 used to be done opening evening or at least by the following evening. Same as the neighbors to each side of us. Now, we're lucky to get one or two by the last day.

my uncle hunted there on a friends farm and over a 10 year period he has shot a mature buck every year and has the mounts to prove it .and I will say there are some great bucks he has brought home .9 and 10 points .and big deer as well .anyway the fellow that owned the farm has passed away and the land was sold before I ever made it up there to hunt ,Dutch

My client bought a 100 acre hunt camp/property on the island two years ago, he took a nice doe off it last season, and a nice buck this season, he has lots of bears on cam as well. I hunted it last season and the sign was plentiful but I didn't get a look at any hides.
