    Default expensive grouse

With a few holidays in line I decided to try for grouse. Got into birds after an hour of bush whacking. After connecting on a bird the pup brought back I noticed blood by her front paw. Long story short, that grouse cost me 400 bucks and 8 stitches. The pup ended up ripping a nasty cut on her front leg.
She will make a full recovery and hopefully be back in the woods soon.
Merry Christmas folks. Be safe out there.

Poor pup. I'm glad she's alright. I've never shot anything that wasn't expensive.... It's best not to put a price on our passion.

...also could have happened while just out walking the bush. The grouse was a positive to a crummy thing.

Game starts adding up real quick per lb when you start doing the math but worth every penny. Glad the pup will be fine, and you managed a bird to boot!

Glad your dog is OK. That better be the best Ruffy you ever had. It always blows my mind when I hear folks talking about their vet bills. $400 for what, less than 30 minutes actual time on your dog, plus a local and maybe some antibiotics? I realize they have many expenses to run a clinic, but still, they know that they have you by the shorties...

    Nice grouse!
Don't worry about the dog, they are TOUGH animals and get over injuries like that rather quickly.
Battle scars are good for hunting dogs and so are stories.
That being said, I am glad that it wasn't something worse and I hope she'll be good as new in no time!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both.
