I have a place on an island. The best part is that it is on an island ,and that means it is hard for others to "visit" . The worst part is that it is hard to get to year round.

If you consider the island check on building requirements prior to committing to purchase. Also look into taxes.
The one advantage to the island is that you should have few problems with trespass as almost all land is private.
The island is the last place I'd go to bear hunt. Yep, there's a few but the farmers dust them at every opportunity.
And the deer hunt just isn't what it used to be in some parts of the island.
