The batteries in the handheld don't handle the extreme cold very well. Hunted with it for 9 hours yesterday in the cold with fully charged batteries, by the end of the hunt it no longer worked properly. After a battery charge overnight it is fine.

So my advise would be to keep it in an inside coat pocket to try to keep it warm if you can, or hang it on a lanyard close to your body inside your coat. Not the most convenient for quick access but this is only when using in the extreme cold.
