My son and I went out Friday morning and called one in on our first set.
Came to field edge and laid down at 130 yards facing us.
Tried different calls but would not get up.
My son took the shot and the coyote got up and ran.
After about 1/2 hour of more calling we went and had a look.
There was a small patch of hair from the underside of his chest and a bullet hole in the ground just in front of the coyotes chest where it had been laying.
Looks like the shot was low and just got some hair.
We tracked it in the light snow just to make sure but no blood and after crossing 3 farms we decided to leave him and go do another set on another property down the road.
I set up at the corner of a small hardwood bush and my son down wind of me approx. 100 yards.
I set the ecaller on the dying rabbit and let it play twice.
After a few minutes of silence I played the lone howl and before it finished playing I heard a shot.
A lone male came in from in front and in-between my son and I.
I never seen it as it came along a hedge row and onto a small pond but my son had perfect 70 yard shot.
This is our 7th coyote of the season.
A nice 43 pound male.
We then headed down the road to where the first coyote was headed and got permission to hunt that property.
We went in and picked up the coyotes track but he never did stop. He crossed into a large swampy area and then into a large bush and just kept going.
