    Default Pike while bow fishing?

Who says you can't get pike in the river while fishing for steelhead...? Look at the poo-eating grin on this kid LOL!

And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the riverside, throwin’ back what we could fry. Drownin’ worms and killin’ time, nothin’ too ambitious.

It is rare but I've done it before, really strange to see your float go down and then land a pike that hit a small roe bag. Got 1 on a flatfish as well but those were both a long time ago. Yours is chunkier than the ones I got. Nice fish.

That's Hab's fish. I took the pic. He was actually throwing a small spoon, I was drifting roe. I'd have been even more shocked if it hit a roe bag, but not totally.

Nice fat pike. I admit I saw the thread name and thought you meant bow fishing as in shooting carp with an arrow, and clicked it thinking "god I hope he just meant SEEING a pike while bow fishing and maybe casting to it..."

LOL! Fair enough. I could have worded the title better. I only bow-fish for carp

That was a bit of a surprise fishing bows, although not necessarily on the technique I was employing. Not a bad fight on light steelhead gear, it's actually a bit bigger than I remembered.
Question is: Does it count as big fish of the day? (it was )
    On for sunday Pondo
In the slanting sun of late afternoon the shadows of great branches reached from across the river, and the trees took the river in their arms

It counts as the big fish, and so does your poo eating grin.

That would be cool to see. My buddy got one (lunge) at Port Dalhousie while fishing browns a few years back too. It happens but always kinda blows me away.

I get the odd pike and muskie fishing the Niagara for trout. Not generally on roe, but I've seen it happen.
