Petco pulls pet treats from China
Finally..Yea !!!
Petco said Monday it has removed all remaining Chinese-made dog and cat treats from its website and stores nationwide because of concerns they have sickened thousands of pets and killed more than 1,000 dogs in the U.S. since 2007.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says initial tests have not connected the Chinese jerky and rawhide treats to the illnesses, but the San Diego-based company and its rival PetSmart both vowed in May to ban the snacks.
Petco is the first national pet retailer to pull the treats from its 1,300 stores. Phoenix-based PetSmart Inc. said Monday that it plans to have them off shelves at its roughly 1,300 stores by March.

I thought Petsmart already did this a few months back, but they still sell dog food with ingredients from China. A lot dog foods have imported ingredients from China and finding one that doesn't takes some research because there aren't many.

Great news for the dogs but how about the people . Check the labels on the canned food you buy . It says produced for eg CAMPBELLS but it doesn't say where the vegetable was grown or canned . Even our Ketchup will come from China . One our local factories had one of their engineers visiting China . he was at at plant that canned soup for export to North America. There were 160 + workers . They had one washroom . Tell me that you believe the workers washed ther hands while handling the food that comes to us . YUK Lucky dogs!

If the FDA can exert enough pressure maybe Walmart and Costco, in North America, will stop selling this crap and a vast majority of the dog population with be safer.
Not worried so much about people, they can read labels and make a choice as to what the eat..hopefully they are taking care not to feed their kids some of the crap that is sold in the grocery stores.

Not if the labels are incorrect or the food has been adulterated. Since the melamine thing I wouldn't buy any food product from the peoples republic.

You can also add India to the list of canned/processed foods for human consumption, [from people that have been there, my brother for one ] "the dirtiest filthiest country in the world ". The Ganges River , they bath in it , wash their cloths in it, use it for a sewer, dispose of their dead in it , it this then also used as a source [supposedly purified] to process foods , double yuck.
